A senior interim and project manager with extensive underwriting controls, conduct risk, regulatory compliance, delegated authority and MGA/coverholder management experience gained in the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia with clients such as Swiss Re, Munich Re, SCOR, The Hartford, John Hancock, Travelers, Hannover Re, Willis, AJG, KPMG, PwC and several Lloyd’s Managing Agencies including MS Amlin and AmTrust.
Advised insurers and reinsurers on aspects of their underwriting, claims and reinsurance operations leading to multimillion pound savings.
Valued by underwriting directors, compliance directors, broking directors, CFOs and MGA managers for swiftly identifying project challenges, pinpointing key actions and securing the support of technical and operational functions to deliver complex culture change and process improvement strategies.
Skilled in designing and delivering training courses for all levels of market professionals in areas such as underwriting strategy, delegated authority due diligence, MGA and coverholder management, conduct risk, claims management, commutation strategies, audits and cross-cultural market awareness.
A Chartered Insurance Practitioner (FCII), Julian is also certified as a Prince2 practitioner.
Derek is a chartered accountant who has worked extensively within the London and North American insurance and reinsurance marketplaces.
He qualified with Peat Marwick (now KPMG) in Bermuda before an insurance career in the USA (Boston) and the UK (London).
His focus has been upon legacy business dispute analyses (such as the LMX and PA spirals), complex technical accounting assignments (in particular reinsurance asset identification and recovery) and binding authority reporting and audit review work.
Derek now divides his time equally between the UK and China.
Richard is an experienced accountant with strong systems skills who has worked extensively within insurance reporting and analysis, expertise he has brought to JTW Connect since 2008.
He has worked with Lloyd’s of London and various Lloyd’s Managing Agencies on performance benchmarking, risk analysis and trending, loss modelling/reserving and year end reporting.
Richard was also CEO of WordingsPlus, a joint venture with JTW Connect which provided online wordings review services by insurance market professionals. These “PBQA” services are now offered through JTW Connect.
James is an independent insurance compliance specialist with an excellent knowledge of the Lloyd’s and London insurance market. During 10 years at the FSA he supervised insurers, brokers and banks including conducting on-site reviews, commissioning skilled persons reports, reviewing applications for senior management roles and new authorisations.
He has since worked in London, Switzerland and Bermuda as Head of Compliance for the Lloyd’s & International Business of MS Amlin. His particular interests include providing training and briefings, assisting with strategic change and improvement and giving discrete advice on regulatory issues.
